I went to brunch at Ovelia in Astoria with my sister and cousins when they visited. Ovelia is one of my favorite Greek restaurants in New York. I love their modern take on traditional Greek foods! And it’s got a great funky vibe going on with the decor.

Family lore has it that a fellow seaman told my father that Swedish women were the most beautiful women in the world (the last photo really illustrates this! 😂), and so my father set out from Greece to meet a Swede. He met a leggy Swedish American, and married her.
When you love traveling, it can sometimes feel stifling to go to the same place more than once, but I have a genetic pull toward Sweden. There aren’t any touristy type things I want to do there. It just feels right to be there — the way New York City feels right to me.
That moment you hit flow state with your work.

This morning I was thinking about the fantastic exhibit “Just Above Midtown: Changing Spaces” I saw a while back at MoMA. (It’s no longer running at the museum.) It was so encouraging to learn about how these artists came together to support one another. There is strength in numbers.
