yeah, it’s a great juxtaposition. a lot of the beats were actually painters as well, so i feel like this show brings that spirit to their words.
love this post – thanks for the link to the beat museum blog.
howl is one of my favorite movies!!
Right?! I didn’t want to like James Franco as Allen Ginsberg. I mean, we hear so much about him. But, man, I was impressed! He really captured Ginsberg’s intonation and rhythms just perfectly!
Hey Stephanie!
Good post. Have recently started my blog called Retracing Jack Kerouac. Maybe check that out if you want to, more to be happening there in the next few weeks and months.
Went to the Beat Museum myself last year for the first time – a good place to have.
Take care!

What’s the link to your blog? I’d love to check it out! I keep getting “That’s the Spirit” when I go to your site. What exactly are you retracing in terms of Kerouac? Keep me posted — I’m really interested in what you’re doing.
Hello Stephanie,
thanks for the reply. How are you?
I have changed my settings, so you should be re-directed to RJK from now on, but the address is: http://retracingjackkerouac.wordpress.com/
It’s primarily about the trip to SF, Denver, Lowell, Boston and NY I took last year and there will be a photography book about that sometime later this year. More info in the ‘About’ section.
that’sthespirit! is just a little fun-blog, mainly for myself, am not sure if that format works for other people, at least not when you don’t know the scenes I am quoting.
Anyway, thanks again and keep in touch!
